Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important representative commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
