19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet defended four early chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
